Detained parliamentarian Ahmed Ameeth was brought to Malé City for a doctor's appointment on Wednesday.
RaajjeMV understands that the MP for Maduvvari constituency was taken to Eyecare Optical due to an eye infection.
Ameeth was taken into police custody over allegations of trespassing, for having entered the parliament premises on July 24 along with other opposition members, after the Elections Commission had deemed him no longer a member of the parliament.
He is one of the 12 MPs charged with 'breaking police ranks' and entering parliament that day.
The MP's defence lawyers argue that the Elections Commission does not have the mandate to remove their client from Parliament, and "therefore the charges against him have no legal grounds".
Ameeth was removed from the ruling Progressive Party of Maldives back in March, after he revealed that he will be voting in favor of the no-confidence motion against current parliament speaker.
