An officer of the Maldives Police Service (MPS) has conducted training at the Interpol E-Evidence Training for First Responders held in Philippines, for the first time.

According to the police institution, the training at the Interpol E-Evidence First Responders' Training programme held in Dagupan was carried out by Inspector of Police Adam Naweed.

Inspector Naweed taught two modules during the training.

The two modules covered the "Collecting Electronic Evidence" and "Interview and Documentation" processes.

As part of the training, three hours of specialized instructions were provided by the Maldivian officer.

MPS revealed that his contributions were part of a broader attempt to equip law enforcement officers with the necessary skillset to address and effectively tackle the increasing challenges posed by cybercrime.

The training began on September 23 and will conclude on September 27.

The Interpol E-Evidence First Responders' Training programme carried the purpose of strengthening cross-border cooperation as well as ensuring investigators are well-prepared to handle electronic evidence in cybercrime investigations.

16 prosecutors experienced in cybercrime cases, four members of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and several police officers from the Philippine National Police (PNP) including representatives from the Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit, Women and Children’s Protection Desk, and officers who have been involved in cybercrime investigations, attended the training programme.
