One has been injured in a dangerous accident involving two motorcycles in the congested capital, Malé City.
Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that an accident involving two motorcycles near the bus terminal in Maafannu-ward of the capital city, was reported around 06:30pm on Sunday.
Speaking to RaajjeMV, a media official at MPS revealed that they have received information that one person was injured in the accident.
MPS also said a team of officers was dispatched to the area and that further details would be disclosed later.
The person injured in the crash was taken to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) for treatment.
Details of the extent of the person’s injuries have not been disclosed.
However, the police institution revealed that further investigations are currently underway in connection with the accident.
The number of accidents occurring in the capital Greater Malé Region has spiraled recently.
At around 12:53am on Thursday, a 21-year-old youth was hospitalized for serious injuries attained in an accident in the capital city and later succumbed to injuries while being treated on ventilator support. Further, on Friday, a 23-year-old youth died after being hit by a speeding car near Central Park, in Hulhumalé.
According to statistics publicized by the police institution, a total of 1,907 traffic accidents have been reported so far this year.
