Officers raided a house named ‘Village’ situated in the Thundi district

Arrests have been made over the preparation and sale of bootleg liquor in Gan island of Laamu atoll.

The Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that officers stationed on the island carried out an operation after being tipped off regarding the preparation and sale of bootleg liquor.

As such, officers raided a house named ‘Village’ situated in the Thundi district of Gan island under a court order.

As part of the drug raid, officers confiscated a substance believed to be Heroin, weighing 24 grams.

In addition to this, two large containers and a five-liter bottle containing bootleg liquor were confiscated alongside materials and equipment used to prepare the liquor.

Two were arrested in connection with the case; a 42-year-old and a 57-year-old.

Further investigations are presently underway.
