The identities of those arrested in connection with a fatal accident near Vinares flat in Hulhumalé Phase II, have been publicized.

The Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that the suspects arrested in connection with the case are Ikram-ul Rahman and Ibrahim Ikram native to capital Malé City and Jinah Ismail, native to Kanduhulhudhoo island of Gaaf Alif atoll.

The accident in question, took place on Wednesday after a speeding car lost control and crashed into a motorcycle rider, waiting on the side of the road on his bike.

According to the police institution, the driver of the car initially fled the scene after the crash.

The 25-year-old suspect was arrested under a court order, later on.

A video showing how the accident unfolded has been circulating on social media.

Stressing that the car involved in the crash was a racing car, several have poured their concerns regarding the issue of racing on the roads of the suburbs on social media.

Upon impact, the motorcycle rider was seen thrown into a distant. A plant near the sidewalk also uprooted upon impact.

Another motorcycle parked in the region was also damaged.

An eyewitness told RaajjeMV that the victim of the accident, a 27-year-old Maldivian, attained serious injuries while the three inside the car, left the scene unscathed.

Further investigations are currently underway in connection with the accident.
