Raids were conducted by officers of the Police Intelligence Unit as well as Drug Enforcement Department (DED) on July 6, following suspicions of a drug peddling network.

Officers raided two apartments, a shop and a godown in Malé City and an apartment in Hulhumalé under a court order, as part of the operation.

13 rubber packets and eight small packets suspected to contain narcotics, were confiscated during the raids.

Arrested during the operations were a 36-year-old, a 44-year-old, a 46-year-old and a 54-year-old.

They are all Maldivian men.

Upon being presented to the Criminal Court for their remand hearing, three of them were remanded for a period of 15 days and the 46-year-old was remanded for seven days.

The case is being investigated further by the Drug Enforcement Department.
