The man who was arrested under accusations of doing black magic has been released.

The remand of the man was last extended on 29 May 2024.

He was initially remanded for a 15-day period.

The man’s remand was extended for 10 days, which expired on 28 May 2024.

Upon being presented to the Funadhoo Magistrate Court following the expiration of his remand, his remand was extended for another five days on May 29.

Protests were also held in Funadhoo island against the man accused of practicing black magic.

According to sources from the island, the issue surfaced after black magic was done in an attempt to harm the constituency’s parliamentarian.

The Maldives Police Service (MPS) arrested a 60-year-old Maldivian man in connection with the case of black magic practice in Funadhoo island of Shaviyani atoll.

The arrest was made on 3 May 2024.

Sources have reported that further investigations are underway in connection with the case.

However, RaajjeMV was unable to attain a comment from the police institution at the time of publishing, as the media official failed to answer the station’s calls.
