The project site for reclaiming land in Maavah island of Laamu atoll, has been mobilized.

This was revealed by the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) on Tuesday.

As such, taking to social media platform ‘X’ to provide the latest updates of the Maavah land reclamation project to the public, MTCC revealed that they mobilized the project site on 16 April 2024.

Under the scope of the project, MTCC is required to conduct land reclamation operations in an area measuring 508,816 cubic meters.

The project also entails to conduct search surveys.

The Maavah land reclamation project is valued at MVR 61.46 million.

During a recent trip he conducted as part of his ongoing series of tours across outlying atolls of the country, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu had announced the government’s plans to reclaim 30 hectares of land from Maavah island.

The administration had initially planned to reclaim 15 hectares of land from Maavah. However, it was increased to 30 hectares.
