A tourist vacationing in Rasdhoo island of Alif Alif atoll has died while snorkeling.

The deceased has been identified as a 27-year-old Chinese man.

Maldives Police Service (MPS) said on Monday that a tourist who went snorkeling outside the Gangehi Resort in the same atoll, was reported dead at around 11:22pm on October 13.

Citing the island’s health center, MPS revealed that the tourist was already dead when brought to the center.

The police institution went on to reveal that the tourist was staying at a guesthouse in Rasdhoo.

The cause of his death has not been disclosed by authorities yet.

RaajjeMV’s attempts to attain a comment from the Rasdhoo Council regarding the incident were to no avail at the time of publishing.

MPS revealed that further investigations are currently underway in connection with the death.

Rasdhoo is an island where the guesthouse business has grown significantly over the years.
