A fire has broken out in a godown in Hulhumale'.
No fatalities have been reported but the number injured has reached 22.
Aasandha Company had confirmed that all 22 are being treated, with the most serious cases transferred to Male'. So far three patients had been sent to Male', while four more are ready to be sent to Male', as reported by Aasandha.
The fire broke out in a godown at around 15 minutes past midnight. The fire was controlled almost an hour after it broke out; at around 1.30am.
MNDF initially misreported that the godown belonged to Damas. The godown is registered to Amin Construction. The premises are located in Hulhumale's Industrial Zone.
Amin Construction's Managing Director Abdullah Mohamed reported to RaajjeMV that the godown was used to store construction materials, including aluminum and glass. The third floor of the three storey building is used as sleeping quarters of the employees.
Reporters of RaajjeMV on the scene said that all injured were expatriates employed in the godown and they were all sleeping when the fire broke out.
No cause had been identified for the fire as yet.
