President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has met officers of the Maldives Police Service (MPS).

The president’s meeting with employees of the police institution was not made public.

MPS revealed that President Muizzu was presented with a guard of honor upon arrival at Iskandar Koshi on Thursday night, to meet with police personnel.

The ceremony was joined by Minister of Homeland Security and Technology Ali Ihusaan, Commissioner of Police Ali Shujau, deputy commissioners, executive officers, commissioned officers as well as general police employees.

According to a statement publicized by the police institution on the occasion, the president, while speaking to police officers at the ceremony, assured that it is a top priority of the administration to pave the path for police officers to serve the people without interruption.

He added that it is an institution that can help officers progress on a personal level and as a career and stated that those who join the police force after studies, and those who are already in service will be able to move forward and in the future, technically competent staff will be created for the institution.

Minister Ihusaan and the Commissioner of Police are also to have addressed the participants at the ceremony.

MPS is celebrating 91 years of service. Ceremonies for flag hoisting in commemoration of the institution's 91st anniversary, was held in capital Malé City and outlying islands.
