The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has begun the process of cleaning and levelling the plots of land allocated to recipients of land as part of the previous administration’s ‘Binveriyaa’ scheme in Hulhumalé.

The former administration of Ibrahim Mohamed Solih had issued about 1,000 plots of land from Hulhumalé Phase II.

Efforts are currently underway to hand over the plots of land, to those who received their land plots this time round.

There are piles of stone and sand in some of these plots, presently, with which HDC has launched efforts to clean them and level the ground.

In a post on social media platform ‘X’, HDC revealed that they have been working day and night to hand over the plots of land that are yet to be handed over to recipients, at the earliest.

Further, HDC revealed that they are also cleaning the plots of land that have already been handed over to their rightful recipients.

This comes at a time the government has come under fire for the massive delay in handing over the land plots promised to recipients under the ‘Binveriyaa’ scheme.

The ‘Binveriyaa’ scheme comes under the ‘Gedhoruverin’ programme launched by the former administration to address the housing crisis facing the residents of the Greater Malé Region.
