Council members of Vaadhoo island of Raa atoll have urged the administration to expedite important development projects.
This was done during a meeting President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu held with members of the island’s council and Women's Development Committee (WDC).
The councilors shared their development priorities with the president, including the need for the initiation of a shore protection project, relocation of the waste management center as well as the importance of initiating a harbor development project.
Discussions also revolved around solutions for the urgent allocation of housing plots.
Vaadhoo councilors raised concerns regarding the halted water and sanitation network establishment project on the island.
The president was also briefed on the challenges surfacing for the councilors due to space limitations at the secretariat.
Listening to these concerns, the president assured the members that his administration would address the issues raised by the council and seek solutions to tackle them, through consultations with relevant authorities.
He assured that the development projects would be implemented to mirror the aspirations of the island community, and tasked his Cabinet of Ministers to seek solutions for relocating the waste management center.
