The Ambassador of Canada to Maldives, Shelley Whiting has paid a farewell call on Foreign Minister Dr. Mohamed Asim.
At the meeting held on Wednesday, Minister Asim thanked the Ambassador "for the close ties," reflecting on ways to further strengthen ties "especially in area of climate change".
The Ambassador had reiterated Canada's support to Maldives "in the area of climate change".
She also stated that Canada will "continue to support Maldives through the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives".
Whiting, via twitter, said that she and the minister had spoken "on areas of shared leadership and the importance of voices of small island states".
The Ambassador, who began her career in the legal field, was appointed to the post in 2013.
