Parliament session for Monday has been halted, with the Speaker’s chair moved to the Parliament grounds.

Opposition MPs had resorted to protesting in Parliament Chambers, stating that Speaker Abdullah Maseeh had no legal standing as Speaker and that the day’s session cannot be continued.

Opposition MPs had moved the Speaker’s chair to the Parliament grounds as well.

 

 

The MPs had started their protest, arguing that the Parliament cannot throw out the Speaker no confidence vote. They also said that Maseeh cannot sit as Speaker.

 

 

 

Army officers are active in Parliament Chambers and Police officers are active outside the Parliament grounds.
