Leader of opposition Jumhooree Party and MP for Maamigilli constituency, Qasim Ibrahim has met with Akhilesh Mishra, the Ambassador of India to the Maldives.
The meeting was held on Saturday afternoon at the Jumhooree Party head office, located in Maafannu Kunooz.
While RaajjeMV understands that the meeting had run for nearly two hours.
The purpose of the meeting is unclear as neither parties have disclosed any information.
Earlier in the week the Ambassador received backlash from the deputy parliamentary group leader of the ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM), who accused Mishra of siding with opposition.
In his response Mishra said that he seeks 'friendship will all'.
Maldives' ties with India turned sour following the former President Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik's administration's decision to terminate a contract with GMR to develop and manage the country's main airport, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi even cutting Maldives off of his Indian Ocean tour.
