Two individuals have been arrested for being in possession of alcohol.

Maldives Police Service disclosed that officers in Hulhumalé Phase I conducted an operation on December 21.

The operation was conducted to retrieve a vehicle that had been ordered to stop by airport police while it was leaving Velana International Airport.

MPS disclosed that 53 liquor bottles were found in the car when it was pulled over and searched.

Arrested in connection to the case are a 56 year old Maldivian man and a foreigner.

Upon being presented to the Hulhumale' Magistrate Court for their remand hearing, the Maldivian man was given three days in remand and the foreigner was given 10 days in remand.

The Hulhumale' Phase 1 Police Station is conducting further investigations in connection with the case.
