Vilingili Constituency MP Saud Hussain says that the Parliament sessions are halted to prevent any possible investigation into the massive graft perpetrated under this administration.
In a tweet posted the Parliamentarian said that billions had been pilfered from state account under this administration. An investigation into this can only be carried out through the Parliament, he said.
Saud added Parliament sessions were halted for this reason and following the halt, the Government and their Parliamentarians were constantly subverting the Constitution.
Many Parliamentarians have accused Parliament Speaker Abdullah Maseeh of subverting the Constitution and conducting Parliament sessions against the rules. Forty-five MPs, including 11 MPs from the ruling Progressive Party of the Maldives (PPM), had signed the no confidence motion on Speaker Maseeh which had been thrown out of the Parliament. It was thrown out after extrajudicial measures were instated whereby four MPs, including MP Saud, were stripped from their seats.
