Family of former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb says that he has been granted access to a doctor, who had confirmed a new infection in his eye.

Speaking to RaajjeMV, Adeeb’s spouse Mariyam Nashwa said that Adeeb had complained of pain in his eye, upon which he was shown to a doctor. She said the doctor had confirmed that Adeeb had an infection in his left eye. In addition to the glaucoma, Adeeb now had cataracts as well.

She expressed concern over lack of access to proper care and noted that his condition had continued to deteriorate. She noted that Adeeb risked irreversible damage, if left untreated.

His lawyers had expressed their concerns over his health. Adeeb’s glaucoma diagnosis and his other health conditions, they say, will exacerbate if not given proper care he needs. They had filed for medical release but had been denied the opportunity.

The Government had refused to authorize release citing that Adeeb is a flight risk. The Government had also stated that Adeeb can be released once he returns all the cash he had allegedly stole from the state.
