Hithadhoo South Member of Parliament Ali Nizar says that President Yameen was the biggest affliction to the Constitution.
Speaking in the rally held in Thinahdoo Island in Gaaf Dhall Atoll, Nizar said that President Yameen was the biggest affliction on the Constitution, adding that they were forced to talk about the issues as the Government had hindered and restricted public rights.
Stating that President Yameen’s tenure has expired, Nizar said that it was the citizens who had started and ended administrations. He added that it was foolish to expect that an administration can exist without public approval or backing, as it is mandated in the Constitution.
Nizar further said it was pointless to harness the judiciary to remain in power. As such, he added that an attack on an MP was an attack on the Constituents he represented.
Stressing that President Yameen needed to redeem himself in public’s eyes, as the entire nation was rallied against him.
He also criticized President Yameen’s anti-decentralization stance and that there was no manifesto the President could present in 2018.
