Parliament Deputy Speaker and Hulhuhenveyru Constituency MP، Moosa 'Reeko' Manik has signed to ruling Progressive Party of the Maldives (PPM).

He signed to the Party in an event held in PPM Offices, attended by Party Chief Advisor and President Abdullah Yameen Abdul Gayoom and Parliament Speaker Abdullah Maseeh.

Speaking in the ceremony, MP Manik said that he had signed to the Party on his own accord.

The Parliamentarian had previously served as a Member of the Parliamentary Group at opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP). He was removed from the Party on 22nd December 2014, for failing to follow the Party whip line.

He had requested to join the Party in December 2015. MDP had stipulated that MP Moosa had to apologize to members of the Party and to bring in additional 50 members to the Party.

Following this MP Moosa took a very pro-PPM and pro-President Yameen stance.

A no confidence motion on MP Moosa was also taken on March 22nd, with the signatures of 15 MPs. Following this, Parliament rules were amended so that any no confidence motion required the signatures of 42 MPs.
