MPs leaving PPM to liberate themselves from compulsion: Yumna
Members believe the Party snatched by rouge elements
MPs are united
More MPs will join reformist movement

Yumna Maumoon, daughter to former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, says that Parliamentarians from ruling Progressive Party of the Maldives (PPM) were leaving the Party to liberate themselves from compulsion.

She made the statement in a press conference held by the reformist movement at Maafannu Kunooz.

She said PPM members were leaving the Party because they themselves believe that the Party had been hijacked by rouge elements and run against the Party laws.

Yumna said that even though the MPs faced immense pressures, they were committed. She added that her father, former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom was being summoned to ACC and Police to halt the reformist movement.

Yumna appealed to all institutions to follow their mandate and Constitution and function independently.

She said that more MPs will join the reformist movement.
