The President’s Office has appointed a new permanent representative to the United Nations and ambassador to the United States and Canada.
A statement from the President’s Office said Dr. Ali Naseer Mohamed had been appointed permanent representative as well as the ambassador to the US and non-resident ambassador to Canada.
The parliament approved his nomination on 28th June.
While Naseer will serve multiple positions abroad, reports have surfaced in local news outlets that his wife, Azima Adam is to resign from her position as government of central bank Maldives Monetary Authority.
However, Azima has refuted these reports.
