Two isolated incidents of assault took place in capital city Malé on Saturday, the police have said.

An official from the Maldives Police Service said that they have taken the necessary steps to increase security in the city, and officers are currently investigating the incidents.

The police have yet to share any further details, including whether or not any arrests have been made.
