The ‘Experience Maldives’ campaign initiated by the Bank of Maldives (BML) and American Express, will significantly boost the economy and tourism sector of the Maldives, says Vice President Faisal Naseem.

The vice president made this remark during the launching of the third edition of ‘Experience Maldives’, launched in a bid to market the Maldives as a top tourist destination across the globe.

As such, taking the podium at the event held at Kurumba Maldives, VP Naseem applauded the country’s national bank as well as American Express for pioneering the campaign.

Expressing confidence that the campaign will significantly boost the tourism industry and economy of the archipelago nation, VP Naseem described the Maldives as a renowned worldwide tropical haven.

Noting that one of the most characteristic features of Maldivians is their warm hospitality which had played a massive role in the establishment of Maldives as a high-demand tourist destination, VP Naseem stated that campaigns such as ‘Experience Maldives’ offers even more people the chance to experience the Maldives.

Shedding light on the tourist arrival figure for the ongoing year, VP Naseem noted that more than 50,000 tourist arrivals were recorded within the very first 10 days.

This was an increase of 12.6 percent in comparison to the same period of 2022.

VP Naseem also shed light on the major setbacks Maldives faced due to Covid-19. However, he remarked that the tourism industry has bounced back due to the government's swift response.

Describing the ‘Experience Maldives’ campaign as one of the most exceptional tourism initiatives as it puts the Maldives in a spotlight visible to thousands across the globe, VP Naseem expressed confidence that the innovative partnership between BML and American Express would work wonders in diversifying the Maldives’ reach as well as boosting the island nation’s tourism industry to new heights.

VP Naseem stated that the campaign's outreach was impressive as it targeted a potential audience of over 100 million American Express customers.

Further, the vice president went on to emphasize that the campaign offers exceptional support for numerous businesses, including 40 properties comprising resorts, guesthouses, and hotels that will be participating in the campaign this year.
