Maldives has expressed its support towards the efforts of the Saudi Kingdom towards reaching a political solution to end the crisis in Yemen.
In a statement issued on Monday, the government of Maldives expressed its “strong” support to the “continuous” efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to reach a “comprehensive” political solution to end the crisis in Yemen.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs revealed that the Maldivian government particularly welcomes the recent meetings held in Sanaa from April 8 – 13 by the Saudi delegation, headed by the Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to Yemen Mohammad Al Jabir.
The meetings in question built upon the Saudi Initiative announced back in March 2021.
The government of Maldives especially welcomes the positive momentum created by the humanitarian truce in Yemen since its announcement by the United Nations in April 2022.
With this, the Maldivian government has called on all Yemeni parties including the legitimate government and the Houthis, to respond “positively” to these efforts in order to achieve the aspirations of the Yemeni people for development, prosperity, peace and stability in Yemen.
