A Bangladeshi citizen, who was being treated for food poisoning at Himmafushi Health Center, has died.

However, the Health Center noted that it is not clear whether this was the cause of death.

Speaking to RaajjeMV, an official from the center said that the individual was admitted on Sunday morning, due to diarrhea and vomiting, adding that he was discharged after treatment.

The official added that the individual was brought in later on Sunday night, due to additional complications, adding that they cannot yet confirm the cause of death.

The official further said that the Bangladeshi citizen suffered from a heart condition, as well as other medical issues. They further noted that they were unable to determine the age of the individual, as it varied in his documents.

Earlier on Sunday the Health Protection Agency (HPA) had said that the number of diarrhea and vomiting cases have increased in the past three days.
