Mahchangoli South MP Abdullah Sinan has deflected rumors that he had defected to opposition Jumhooree Party (JP).
Speaking to Raajje.mv, Sinan had denied the rumors that he had defected to JP.
The rumors surfaced at a time when opposition had announced that they intended to once again file the no confidence motion on Speaker Abdullah Maseeh once the Parliament reconvenes after Eid holidays.

JP had refused to comment on the rumors. However, JP PG member and Thoddoo Constituency MP Ibrahim Hassan (Evila) had tweeted that if the opposition had enough members on their side at the time of the vote, laws dictate that a vote need not be taken. In this case, Evila said the Speaker will have to resign immediately.

Rumors of deflection came after the Government revoked Chillax, a restaurant partly owned by Sinan. Additionally, close associates of Sinan have been removed from their Government positions.
