The newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Maldives to the European Union, Omar Abdul Razzak, has presented his Letter of Credence to the President of the European Council, Charles Michel.

Ambassador Omar presented his letter of credence to the President of European Counsil on 16 December 2022, during a ceremony held at the Headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Council.

During the meeting that followed, President Charles Michel welcomed Ambassador Omar and congratulated him on his appointment. Ambassador Omar conveyed warm greetings and good wishes from the Maldivian people and President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

Both Ambassador Omar and President Michel re-affirmed the positive and growing momentum in the Maldives-EU relations over the recent years and re-confirmed their strong interest in further strengthening the excellent bilateral cooperation.

Ambassador Omar was accompanied by Counsellor Mariyam Seena and First Secretary Fathimath Reena.

On 14 December 2022, Ambassador Omar presented his credence letter to the King of Netherlands, Willem-Alexander, as the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Maldives to the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

The credential ceremony was held at the Noordeinde Palace in Den Haag.

While the ceremony saw King Willem-Alexander welcoming Ambassador Omar and expressing pleasure to receive the new Maldivian ambassador to Netherlands, the Maldivian ambassador conveyed greetings and good wishes from President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and the Maldivian people to King Willem-Alexander.

The credential ceremony was followed by a private audience with the King. During his audience with the King, Ambassador Omar assured the King of Netherlands that he is committed to nurture closer ties between Maldives and Netherlands and further solidify bilateral cooperation on areas of common interest.
