Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has said that they are still searching for police Corporal Mohamed Sumaid, who has been missing since June 4.
MNDF's information officer Ibrahim Azim said that the sea search is still ongoing, and that it is being conducted by its southern area officers.
Azim informed that "a large-scale search" is being conducted for the Corporal.
MNDF had previously revealed that the team has "covered an area of 127,500 square metres" in the search. MNDF had conducted both air and sea searches.
Sumaid, who went fishing with two of his friends near the southern most Addu City, went missing after their dinghy reportedly 'capsized' near Gan.
While Sumaid's two friends report that the dinghy they had been travelling in had capsized a number of times, MNDF has said that they are not able to confirm the matter.
"The capsizing has not been confirmed by the investigation team as the belongings and other objects had been found intact onboard the vessel," MNDF had said.
