CEO of the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) Adam Azim, has stated that changes will be brought to the Raajje Transport Link (RTL) mini bus services routes in Male' City.
Azim stated this while speaking at the 'Falasurukhee' program of RaajjeTV.
MTCC commenced the RTL mini bus service in Male' on September 05, 2023. MTCC is operating 12 mini buses, in three routes of Male' City. They are Sosun route, Ameenee route and Orchid route.
Speaking at the program, Azim stated that the mini bus service is receiving a lot of support from the public. As such, he noted that around, 4,500 to 5,000 people uses the mini buses daily.
Azim said that the company is taking into consideration, the feedback of the customers. He said that the company will be working on to change the bus routes, while taking customer feedback into consideration.
Azim went onto note that the Sosun route is mainly used by students. He said that the Sosun route is the least popular route of Male'. He said that changes will be brought to the bus schedule of this route, depending on the times people use the route.
Azim noted that both Ameenee route and Orchid route is popular among the customers. He said that the company will work on improving the bus service with the customer feedbacks they receive.
As such, Azim noted that customers are requesting for the Orchid route bus to travel near IGMH. Hence, he said that the company is working on making busses in two routes to travel near IGMH.
The CEO stated that discussion are already underway with the Ministry of Transport, Maldives Police Service and the Male' City Council. Azim stated that once the parking issue near the hospital is resolved, the company will start the bus services.
Mini bus services will be available within the city at a cost of MVR seven, per person, per trip. Tickets will be available through RTL application. Customers can also pay using cash.
People with special needs, people over the age of 65, children in school uniform and children under the age of three will be able to travel free of charge.
The mini bus operations comes under the Raajje Transport Link services introduced by the government to improve the transportation services of the country. Under RTL, MTCC will be providing ferry services and bus services in the country.
MTCC states that customers will be able to view the RTL bus schedule via the company's website. Additionally, customers can also use the company's hotline 1650 to inquire about the services.
MTCC highlights that the company's aim as the largest transportation service provider of the country is to provide the customers with the latest and easily accessible services.
