Bank of Maldives has launched its ‘Startup Grant Fund’.

The initiative comes as the third event of a series of 12 high-impact monthly community initiatives leading up to the country’s national bank’s 40th anniversary to be celebrated in November 2022.

The ‘Startup Grant Fund’ is a programme that will pave the way for emerging entrepreneurs to win a grant funding to start or grow a business in the Maldives.

BML will be conferring MVR 500,000 to four winning businesses under the programme.

BML will be providing mentoring support for the winners, in a bid to help them successfully implement their business plans.

The Startup Grant is part of the Bank’s commitment to support businesses and strengthen our relationship with the start-up ecosystem in Maldives. Through the programme, we are nurturing the entrepreneurial spirit of the startup community to create jobs and opportunities to maximize positive impact for society. The winners will be provided with financial advisory services to help support their vision. We hope to see many individuals and businesses make use of this opportunity and contribute to the startup culture in Maldives.”
Tim Sawyer, BML’s CEO and Managing Director.

Interested individuals may forward their applications before midnight on 16 March 2022 and acquire further details on the eligibility process throughwww.bankofmaldives.com.mv/startup-grant.

The country’s national bank launched its scholarship fund during November 2021 as a first of the series, where fully funded international scholarships for three students in the area of Banking and Finance will be provided every year. Open to all, the fund carries the purpose of developing talented young Maldivians in the field.

The second event is the refurbishment and upgrading of the Maldives National Library, announced in December 2021.
