Parliement's second extraordinary sitting

The motion to extend the state of emergency to 30 days has passed.

Speaker Abdulla Maseeh says an attendence of 43 MPs is not needed to vote on extending the state of emergency.

PPM parliamentary group leader MP Ahmed Nihan has said that 40 MPs are in attendance, despite what was announced at the beginning 

One hour has been given for MPs to debate the parliament's national security committee report on extending the state of emergency.

Only two MPs spoke during the debate: Kelaa MP Ali Arif and Fonadhoo MP Abdulla Abdul Raheem.

Parliament will be holding its second extraordinary sitting this evening, to vote on extending the state of emergency, as requested by President Abdulla Yameen.
