Japanese Ambassador to the Maldives, Kazumi Endo called on Vice President Abdulla Jihad on Thursday.
The meeting was held at the President’s Office on Thursday morning, where the VP was accompanied by Bilateral Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ahmed Khaleel, Under Secretary at the President’s Office Fayyaz Shathir and Joint Secretary at the Foreign Minisry Aishath Azeema.
During the call, VP Jihad expressed his gratitude for the contributions and support the Japanese government has provided “for the economic and social developments of Maldives”.
Furthermore, the VP highlighted that it has been 50 years since Maldives and Japan established bilateral relations, adding that he was confident “in enhancing the relations to new heights” during Ambassador Endo’s tenure.
Speaking at the meeting, the Ambassador said that it was an honor to serve as the Ambassador to the Maldives, and expressed confidence in enhancing the friendly relations between both countries.
Both parties also discussed “areas of further strengthening the bilateral relationships”, said the President’s Office.
