As part of the greater efforts to boost local entrepreneurs and small and medium sized enterprises, Business Center Corporation Limited has opened a third outlet of ‘Authentic Maldives’, this time in the populous Maldives capital, Malé City.

The reveal was made by the company via Twitter on Saturday, hours after the new outlet was unveiled to the public in the Universal’ Building located in Orchid Magu of the capital.

In the launching ceremony which kicked off a little past 8pm on Saturday, Business Center Corporation officials were joined by the Minister of Economic Development Fayyaz Ismail.

The outlet was officially unveiled by Ambassador of Japan to the Maldives, Keiko Yanai.

The company claims that the new ‘Authentic Maldives’ outlet will prove to be a significant cog in a “larger machine” of kickstarting and promoting local entrepreneurs and businesses into “sustainable” and profitable ventures.

Minister Fayyaz also reiterated that the store is a great avenue for local talents, especially women, to feature their products. The minister has urged the public to support local entrepreneurs by visiting the outlet and making their purchases.

The new ‘Authentic Maldives’ outlet also features a “Showroom Corner” which showcases artistic products and pieces by furniture designers.

In a bid to create opportunities to provide an adequate atmosphere for small businesses to sell their products and aims to promote local artistry and craftsmanship, the Business Center Corporation opened ‘Authentic Maldives’ outlets across the Greater Malé Region during 2020 as well. As such, the outlet located in Hulhumalé Centro Mall features the products of over 50 local entrepreneurs and businesses.

‘Authentic Maldives’ was inaugurated in the Velana International Airport’s duty free by Minister of Finance Ibrahim Ameer and Economic Minister Fayyaz during January 2020, exclusively for Maldivian products.

Since then, over 60 local entrepreneurs have been granted spots at the outlets to wholesale their products, the company said, adding that they remain committed to widen the initiative and establish outlets spanning the entirety of Maldives, in the near future.
