Mohamed Ameeth, former parliamentarian for Maduvvari constituency, has been appointed as the Deputy Ambassador of Maldives to Japan.

RaajjeMV understands that the appointment was made in late June.

Ibrahim Uwais currently serves as the Ambassador of Maldives to Japan.

Ameeth was a lawmaker in the 18th parliament and was among the MPs who lost their seats during the previous tenure.

The ex-MP was elected to the 18th parliament through the now-opposition Progressive Party of the Maldives (PPM).

However, Ameeth joined then-opposition after he lost his seat and joined Jumhooree Party during 2018.
