Over 300 foreigners evacuated from the Maldives on Monday
169 were Indian nationals and 156 were Nepalese nationals

The Maldives Immigration Department has revealed that over 300 foreigners were repatriated from the Maldives on Monday.

Out of the 325 foreigners that were repatriated from the Maldives on June 22, 169 were Indian nationals and 156 were Nepalese.

The government of India has been facilitating the evacuation of their nationals stranded in various parts of the world through the largest repatriation exercise launched thus far, operation “Samudra Setu”, via Indian navy ships and flights, amid the global Covid-19 pandemic.

Within the past three days, 198 Indians were evacuated via navy boats and 339 through chartered flights.

The 339 Indian nationals were repatriated via IndiGo Airline flights on Saturday.

INS Airavat, the latest Indian navy ship to have arrived departed the Maldives on its fifth voyage on Sunday and docked at Tuticorin on Monday morning. All passengers will be required to undergo a 14-day quarantine period before they are allowed to return to their respective cities.

About 4,000 Indian nationals have been repatriated from the Maldives thus far, revealed the High Commission of India in the Maldives.
