Covid-19: authorities working to resolve issue of drawn-out quarantine period
Samples may not have been collected from a few
There are delays in this process, always
Test results will not be issued through the call center

The National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) is working to resolve the issue of an extension to the quarantine period of some, due to a delay in collecting samples for Covid-19 testing.

Speaking to press on Friday, Covid-19 spokesperson, Mohamed Mabrook Aziz revealed that there have been cases where samples were collected from quarantined individuals after 21 days and that it is possible to have missed a few.

According to Mabrook, sample collection will be conducted in the current process which experiences delays, almost always. In light of this, Mabrook assured that the authorities are working to resolve these issues in delays and improve the process.

A lot of individuals in quarantine are having to remain there for additional days because the results of their samples are delayed. These things surface as we are working with limited resources. We are working to resolve these issues, but we cannot say these things don’t happen. We do not even want to say that it doesn’t happen. We will work to fast-track the process. These issues will lessen as capacity increases”

Further, the spokesperson revealed that a team of nurses visit these facilities every day, to manage the healthcare of quarantined individuals.

Individuals will be consulted with doctors the first time they are taken into medical facilities and they will also be checked by doctors upon release.

The team of doctors active at these facilities places high priority in individuals identified to be in serious condition.

Shedding light on the issue of delays in acquiring test results, Mabrook noted that test results will not be issued from the call center.

Further, the results of individuals at quarantine facilities will be issued by the medical professionals at these facilities.
