The Maldives has confirmed 44 additional cases of the Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19), on Wednesday evening.

The Health Protection Agency (HPA) made the reveal via Twitter on Wednesday evening.

As such, among the new cases are 34 Bangladeshi nationals, two Indians and eight Maldivians, revealed the authority.

It has been revealed that the new cases include samples that were collected from active surveillance of “vulnerable households".

With this development, the total number of confirmed cases in the island nation has reached 618.

Earlier on Wednesday, the country reported a Bangladeshi national having tested positive for the virus.
