An elderly woman from Manadhoo island in Noonu atoll has tested positive for Covid-19.
An official from the Noonu Atoll hospital confirmed to RaajjeMV that an 80-year-old from the island has tested positive.
While the woman is to have consulted at the hospital on April 29, the official noted that she had not exhibited any Covid-19 like symptoms.
Noting that she was transferred to Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) on Thursday due to her health deteriorating, the hospital decided to test her for Covid-19 as she had a fever.
The Noonu Atoll hospital official said that they were informed that her results had come back positive, on Friday evening.
While a nurse had arrived with the patient, this individual has since returned to Manadhoo and has been told to self-isolate.
The hospital official did not reveal any further details, and authorities are yet to confirm the case.
