The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has issued a guideline seeking outlying atolls to list down their expatriate communities and check if they have flu-like symptoms.
The guideline seeks regional hospitals and health centers to seek out the expatriates residing in outlying islands and check if they exhibit symptoms similar to the Covid-19 pandemic.
If a number of expatriates are discovered to have flu-like symptoms, regional hospitals and health centers have been asked to report to the authority immediately.
The guideline further notes that these centers and hospitals must arrange a way for expatriates who have flu symptoms to report to them by themselves.
HPA has also sought to spread more public awareness regarding the issue, among the island communities by keeping them well informed about the pandemic.
It is noted that those suffering from chronic diseases or a long-term illness, the elderly, children and immune-compromised individuals who are more at risk of contracting the virus, must be made aware of the Covid-19 situation.
