Health Protection Agency (HPA) says that nine individuals have tested positive for H1N1, with 11 admitted for further treatment.
HPA statistics show that 375 have been tested for H1N1, with 123 testing positive for the strain. Up to Saturday, 782 patients from Male’ had sought treatment from IGMH flu clinic, while 250 had sought treatment from ADK. A total of 1179 patients had sought treatment for colds and viral fever in the flu clinics in the atolls.
Doctors stress that personal hygiene and preventative measures such as donning masks in public if symptoms are spotted as key to staying safe. HPA had instructed public not to visit flu clinics unless absolutely necessary, as individuals were more likely to pick up influenza from infected patients in clinics and hospitals.
HPA further notes that influenza was treatable.
