Hithadhoo South Constituency MP Ali Nizar has claimed that Saudi monarch Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud will not visit the Maldives during the Yameen administration.
He made the statement in Saturday night’s edition of RaajjeTV’s “Fala Suruhee” program.
Nizar said that King Salman will not visit the Maldives then, adding that President Yameen cannot ever assume that he can govern without the involvement of the public. He said what we were witnessing was a signal of this.
“MDP is eagerly waiting for these elections. We don’t know how the Government had carried out candidate selections. Elections are being delayed on various reasons. This is the fourth delay,” he said.
Nizar challenged that there was nothing the Government can do to defeat MDP in elections, adding that President Yameen lacked direction. He added that President Yameen cannot hope to come to power in a free and fair elections.
He added that MDP supported free trade more than President Yameen, but said that MDP would not do anything that would upset or inconvenience the public.
“The public was greatly concerned over what was happening over Faafu Atoll. There was no room for opposition figures. They’re using Police to deter opposition,” he said.
Nizar further noted that President Yameen’s administration did not support decentralization system and as such did not have anything to say about it to public.
