Dive gear believed to have been in use by a missing tourist whose disappearance was reported on Sunday, have been found.
A fishing vessel had found the tourist’s buoyancy control device and diving cylinder afloat about 50 miles off of Fuvahmulah on Wednesday. The vessel’s crew had brought the gear to the police.
The Maldives National Defence Force’s (MNDF) spokesperson, Captain Ibrahim Azim said that the search for tourist is still ongoing.
The 45-year-old male was reported missing to the MNDF’s Southern Base around 18:00 on Sunday, after he went diving off of a cruise boat.
The MNDF had said on Monday that rescue officers had enlisted the help of sea plane services in the search.
