Former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb, currently serving extended jail terms, has been transferred back to Police custody on Wednesday.
Police had confirmed the transfer, with the media official confirming that Adeeb was now under Police custody and in Dhoonidhoo jail.
Adeeb had been serving his 33-year jail term on terror and embezzlement charges in Maafushi jail. No cause has been given for the sudden transfer.
His lawyer was not informed of the transfer.
Adeeb is currently on trial for hiring a sniper to assassinate President Abdullah Yameen and in connection to the weapons cache found in Himbalhidhoo.
