MDP reports that Police have warned that the rally in Haa Alif Dhihdhoo will be stopped if any banners on selling Faafu Atoll to Saudi King are displayed.
MDP Dhihdhoo Constituency Secretary General and senior official in the Party’s election drive, Ali Hashim said that he was summoned to the Island Police Station on Tuesday around 1430 hrs.
He said he was warned not to display any banners over the issue of Faafu Atoll. He added that if any banners were displayed on the issue, the Police will halt the session.
Earlier, journalists of RaajjeTV had been delivered death threats over the Faafu Atoll reportage.
With the issue heating up, Government’s action and inaction has been at the focus of public outrage.
The Government is set to sign the agreement on the sale of Faafu Atoll during the Saudi King’s planned visit to the Maldives.
Almost all of the banners and graffiti, against the sale, in some islands of the Atoll had been removed by the Police.
