A young woman was raped in the barbecue area, in the Hulhumale’ district of the capital Male’ City.

Media official at the Maldives Police Service (MPS) confirmed that such a case was reported at around 10:40 pm on Thursday.

Revealing that the woman is over 18, the official said that no further details can be revealed “as it is an ongoing case.”

There have been no arrests so far.

While some media outlets report that the woman raped is a 19-year-old, RaajjeMV understands that she is 27. She was raped in the Hulhumale’ industrial area.

While the police have not revealed details of the crime, some media outlets report that she was gang-raped by a group.
