MP Fahmy criticizes slow progress over death threat
MP Fahmy reported the message threatening to stab him 'to death', five days ago.
Police have yet to make an arrest.

Opposition MP, Imthiyaz Fahmy, has on Wednesday criticized the police’s ‘slow’ progress in investing a death threat against him.

Fahmy received a message sent via number operated under Ooredoo Maldives, threatening to stab him to death last Saturday.

He had posted the message on Twitter, tagging the Maldives National Defense Force, the Human Rights Commission, and the Maldives Police Service.

Fahmy is extremely vocal about his disagreement with the ruling Progressive Party of Maldives and President Abdulla Yameen’s policies. He had also recently spoken at a Maldives United Opposition (MUO) rally in Thinadhoo island of Gaafu Dhaalu atoll.

He currently serves as the deputy leader of the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP)’s parliamentary group.
