Member of Parliament for Galolhu South Constituency Ahmed Mahloof has been transferred back to Maafushi jail on arrival to the Maldives.
He arrived back in the Maldives Monday at around 7pm.
Mahloof’s family reported that Mahloof was suffering from an allergic reaction, brought about, most likely by, prison food.
Doctors had previously advised Mahloof on continued injections for a period of three months to address the issue. His family reported that he had taken the first dose of injections and that he had to go back to India in March for the second one.
Mahloof’s six-month jail term had expired on January 17. His appeal is still unprocessed and is now serving an additional sentence of four months and 24 days.
Mahloof, who was formerly with ruling Progressive Party of the Maldives, is a strong critic of the Government and President Abdullah Yameen. He was removed from the Party due to this. After his dismissal, Mahloof allied with the opposition. The two jail terms delivered on him were following his arrest in opposition led rallies and demonstrations.
