Maldives Customs Service (MSC) has on Sunday destroyed a large amount of confiscated alcohol.
The contraband was destroyed at the recently reclaimed area of Hulhumalé, the capital’s suburban extension, with officials from the Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), Maldives Police Service (MPS), and Ministry of Defense and National Security.
Officials destroyed 1,107 bottles and 180 beer cans, and 601 bottles from the airport’s duty free that have expired or been otherwise damaged.
The Maldives Customs Act gives the MSC authority to destroy damaged goods.
